Every story begins somewhere. Here is the journey through the production process.

As Editor in Chief of The Quill, one of my main jobs was to revise and edit articles. I do not have documentation of this process. Here is an example of one of my own revisions on my own article.

I am a member of Centennial Media's JEA Quiz Bowl Team. This contest requires an extensive amount of knowledge about journalistic style and ethics. I have been able to apply this knowledge into my daily tasks at Centennial Student News.

At the beginning of every week, Centennial Student News meets in the studio to brainstorm story ideas, segments, and commercials. This kicks off the preproduction process.

As an assistant producer, it is my job to help give input on story ideas and to organize the show notes. Click here for an example of notes.

Collecting research, connecting to school and community members, and organizing the story are all crucial components of the preproduction process. I fact check my research and write my script during this step of the process.

After production is completed, the entire CSN team watches the show and critiques every segment. As an assistant producer, I give feedback on the news stories, specifically the structure, writing, and visuals. I also critique my own work so I can learn from my mistakes and improve with every story.
