The Art of Storytelling
News Gathering
Before I even pick up a pencil to begin my story, I ask myself: what is the context of the story? Who do I need to talk to? What questions am I asking? Each story is complex - it requires research and contacting individuals who know the story best. Gathering news has forced me to step outside of my comfort zone. I have connected to individuals throughout my school and community, creating unique relationships through storytelling.

The Quill
August 2017
Centennial High School's newspaper, The Quill, was established in 2017. Here is the first publication article, and my first article written as The Quill's Editor in Chief.
I interviewed sources who knew the subject best. Here is the interview recording with Student Body President Cameron Castillo.
Science Olympiad Champions
January 2018
This article was written to recognize the outstanding achievements of Centennial's Science Olympiad team.
I strongly feel that academic achievements do not get the same credit as sports achievements. One of my goals as a student journalist is to bring more recognition to smaller programs at Centennial, such as the Science Olympiad team.

Unhappy Holidays: A Production
December 2017
I believe small programs at my school deserve more recognition. Centennial's Theatre program (CAST) produced a holiday performance titled Unhappy Holidays. This article highlights the production and CAST as a whole.
