I am currently an assistant producer for Centennial Student News. I have the unique opportunity to help manage the news show and production. I consider the news team to be some of my closest friends.
Production
As assistant producer, one of my jobs is to help film the news anchors. I help write anchor scripts, and I run the teleprompter and slate.
New Mexico State Legislature
In January 2020, Centennial Media had the opportunity to be recognized at a state legislature session. While at the New Mexico State Capitol, we were able to advocate for more funding and resources for our program and other Career and Technical Education programs.
Las Cruces Public School Board Recognition
Centennial Media has been recognized at multiple LCPS School Board meetings for our accomplishments at both the state and national levels. These recognitions help to continue funding for our program.
Community Outreach
Centennial Student News is heavily involved in the community. We've visited Central Elementary School to meet with their monthly star students. We have mentored Sierra Middle School Media and assisted them in their productions. Centennial Media has also held several summer camps for elementary and middle school students, where campers can learn the basics of media and create their own production.
Team Bonding
I have helped organize team bondings for the Centennial Student News. CSN loves to have fun before leaving to competitions; we build friendships and create memories that will last a lifetime.
